GIS telecoms solutions

Realworld Systems offers a portfolio of GIS telecoms solutions that go beyond the standard functions of the GE Energy Network Inventory products. For instance, we offer solutions for inside and outside plant management, as well as the creation of fixed and mobile networks.

A few examples are:

  • Telecoms Capacity Management
  • Wireless Network Inventory
  • Line Plant Management
  • Light Path
  • Open Realworld Cable Application (ORCA)

Telecom Capacity Management

The Telecom Capacity Management (TCM) product portfolio of Realworld Systems offers support for facility management and capacity monitoring of items including rooms, racks, cable ducts and conduits.

TCM comprises the following products:

  • Internal Capacity Management for planning areas in buildings, co-location, available rack space, equipment and cable ducts
  • External Capacity Management for the management of underground infrastructure such as trenches and conduits
  • Capacity Management functions for Light Path and AirWave for the management of available fibres

Wireless Network Inventory

Wireless Network Inventory offers a solution for the design of network components related to radio systems and capacity planning for towers, masts, buildings, antennas and radio systems.

Wireless Network Inventory includes functions for:

  • installing radio systems on lattice masts, fixed towers and buildings
  • placement of radio systems
  • management of the related equipment and network components

Line Plant Management

Line Plant Management allows telecoms operators to plan and manage the delivery of services such as POTS and xDSL to clients over their networks efficiently. Line Plant Management also offers support for the design work and capacity management of these networks.

Light Path

To respond alertly to the clients’ needs, it is important for telecoms operators to know exactly where their clients are and through which network components they are connected. This knowledge allows new services to be offered quickly and efficiently, for example location-based services (LBS) that match the service to the client’s location.

Light Path links information about services to information about the physical network infrastructure. This is a very efficient way of connecting clients, adapting networks and running commercial processes at their optimum.

Open Realworld Cable Application (ORCA)

The Open Realworld Cable Application (ORCA) concept is a product that lets us offer cable and telecoms companies complete integration of geographical and administrative information.

ORCA seamlessly links the geographic capabilities of GE Smallworld to Oracle’s database functions. Integration with other operational systems is based on Oracle. Reports and analyses are underpinned by Oracle too.

As a result, your staff can use all the operational information from Oracle and Smallworld. Staff in the field can use this integral information through the mobile GIS from Spatial Eye. It allows them to see at a glance what is where.
