GIS for municipalities
Dutch municipalities are responsible for a lot of processes with a geographic component. Zoning plans, WKPB [Public Law Act], BAG [Basic registration of Addresses and Buildings], planning permission and the WOZ [Property Tax] are just a few examples. An increasing number of municipalities therefore recognise the value of GIS services. The obligations concerning authentic records are giving a further impulse to this development.
In municipalities, GIS is placed next to and combined with systems such as those from Centric. GIS provides improvements in municipal services, more efficiency and more understanding of decision-making processes. Our consultants demonstrate their added value there where these different fields of knowledge intersect, for instance in a zoning planning system with customised management and printing of zoning plan maps, together with the articles and regulations that apply to the properties in the zoning plan concerned.
We prefer to set up your IT infrastructure in such a way that information from various systems can be combined easily. We have opted for a modern solution here, based on a database and web services. This allows us to guarantee the provision of information both internally for the municipality and externally through the Internet for general use.
Authorisations play an essential role in this: which user group is allowed to see what information, or to inquire or amend information? A user-friendly management application ensures that you yourself can define and change these authorisations. We use standard GIS applications such as Geoweb for this, as well as a management application of our own based on ArcGIS Server.
